Presentation given at an IP seminar on 16 May 2017 on Directive (EU) 2016/943 on the protection of trade secrets. It sets out the context, including a 2012 public consultation and the fragmented protection across the EU, the definition of a trade secret and the scope of the Directive, lawful and unlawful acquisition, use and disclosure, general procedural principles, provisional measures and measures on the merits, and the implementation deadline of 9 June 2018.
